HONOURING YOUR INJURIES

Having suffered from bulging discs, sciatica & sacrum iliac pain and coming to the realisation that these areas will always be my weak spots. I have now come to honour these ‘weak spots’ as some of my greatest teachers. As they are the ones bringing me back to the present moment, making me practice with complete awareness & giving me a direct connection & proprioception of my own body (proprioception = sense of one's own body). And isn’t that what the practice is really about? What spirituality is really about? Nothing difficult nor fancy. Just very ‘simple’ becoming aware of one's self. One of the most inspiring teachers for me, BKS Iyengar states it very clearly when he says “The physical body is not only a temple for our soul

but the means by which we embark on the inward journey toward the core.” I invite you the next time you practice whether on the mat or in your daily life to create an intention of honouring your injuries.

"And isn’t that what the practice is really about? What spirituality is really about? Nothing difficult nor fancy. Just very ‘simple’ becoming aware of one's self."

Through your injuries you can deepen your Yoga & movement practice. If you are interested in this kind of exploring and want to deepen it. During a retreat there is ample time to disconnect from the world and return to yourself, so that you have all the space for your injuries to become your greatest teacher & eventually transform them into something better. Interested? You can have a look at this year's dates here: Yogaion retreat dates 2022

With love,

Shaini
